Last Sunday, 15 July 2018, my wife and I were not fortunate enough to watch on time the live telecast of the ‘Fight of Champions’ held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia between Manny Pacquiao vs. Lucas Mathysse. Edgy, we opted to getting our farm chores done. I continue building the basking pen of monitor lizards and my wife attends to her laundry.

Around 1:00pm, while my wife starts preparing lunch, she chanced upon a delayed telecast of the ‘Fight of Champions’ via ABS-CBN channel 2. She yelled to call me.


Seeing Manny's infighting agility with his relaxed, patient & weighty punches/upper cuts to Lucas, my wife & I are convinced that Manny will win the fight. It came into reality firstly on the 3rd round and finally on the 7th round; in 2 minutes & 43 seconds! It was Manny’s double punches & right uppercut that made Lucas sat on his knee and spitting his mouth guard – Lucas admission of defeat.

My wife and I shouted & jump in jubilation! Not only that; my wife starts punching me in my arms and yelling “panalo na si Pacman!”

We’re so glad to see that Manny (the Pambansang Kamao, the honourable senator, the humble son, husband and father) is the new WBA Welterweight Champion!

Finally, in the middle of our cheery lunch while viewing the closing telecast of ‘Fight of Champions’ Manny Pacquiao humbly expressed his customary gratitude to God and to all who supported/helped him in the fight.
